Colorado Springs Neighborhood Report ~ Abert EstatesAbert Estates is a Colorado Springs neighbohood in the northernmost part of Colorado Springs and is located on the border of Northgate and Black Forest, just east of Highway 83 and Flying Horse Golf Course Community and to the north of Shoup Road – which leads right into the heart of Black Forest. New Breed Ranch is another new community of luxury custom homes found just to the east of Abert Estates. Only 2 streets make up Abert Estates: Abert Estates is named after the Abert Squirrel – a large, black tree squirrel indigenous to Colorado. A close cousin to the Abert Squirrel is the Kaibab Squirrel- identified by a white tail… Thus the names of the streets of Abert Estates. This Colorado Springs neighborhood consists of about 22 home sites – which make up Abert Estates – with homes ranging from about 4,000 s.f. to well over 6,500 s.f.. Most homes are low-profile ranch-style floor plans and offer 4-5 bedrooms, 4-5 Bathrooms and a 3 (or more) car garage. At least one home offers a 7-car garage. These homes were built between 1996 and 2006 – and some home sites still do not have a home built on them yet.
