Colorado Springs Ranks #3 Drunkest City in the USAccording to a recent report, Colorado Springs ranks as one of Drunkest cities in the nation. “Colorado Springs is the third “drunkest city” in the country, according to Men’s Health Magazine. The December issue ranks Denver the “most dangerously drunk”… followed by Anchorage, Colorado Springs, Omaha and Fargo.”
This report went on to say:
This is nothing to celebrate, but it makes me wonder WHY? As I thought about it, it occurred to me that Colorado Springs (and Denver for that matter) are cities with super-high altitide (we are the highest state in the country) and we have a HUGE influx of relocation TO our state from all over the country, to include a heavy military relocation presence. In fact, Colorado Springs is home to 6 military bases alone! Why does this matter?Well, the running joke for Colorado Springs residents is that our out-of-town guests make for cheap dates. The altitude creates a phenomenon where one beer (up here) usually has the same effect as several beers (closer to sea level). So, if there are a lot of people that are not from here … drinking what they are used to at sea level … up here in these high altitudes … over-consumption is BOUND to happen. I wonder if this was taken into consideration for this report … So, if you are considering relocating to Colorado Springs, please do not become a statistic. Take it easy when you “tie one on” because you may be a cheaper date than you think.
