Colorado Springs Ranks #43 for Sustainability

According to SustainLane.com, Colorado Springs was the 43rd most sustainable city in the nation in 2008.

Colorado Springs ranks the highest for:

  • Low Natural Disaster RiskThe mountains kind of protect us from tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and volcanoes…
  • Low Metro CongestionWe are spoiled. Our “traffic jams” are NOTHING compared to other cities our size and larger.
  • Effective Planning and Land Use
  • Good Air QualityFor what little we air have …  hahahaha!

However, we DID score rather low for a few things as well:

  • Metro Trasit Ridership = I agree… HORRIBLE. It is near impossible to ride the “city bus” anywhere.
  • Waste Management = I think Colorado Springs could learn something from Portland…
